Molasses, an important component for the feed industry, is largely imported by sea
and then distributed in tank trucks. When vacuum tank trucks were used, filling and
emptying took up to 2.5 hours, especially in cold weather. Long periods at a
standstill which are not in the best interests of the shipping company.
VOGELSANG rotary lobe pumps can help. Their compact dimensions make them
perfectly suitable for attachment to tank trucks. As self-priming pumps, they can
suck high-viscosity molasses from the storehouses into the tank truck. Their dry-run
resistance is a great advantage in this. For emptying, the pump direction is
changed by switching the oil engine - the molasses is pumped into the tanks.
Using the rotary lobe pump thus reduced the filling/emptying time to 30 minutes,
guaranteeing a quick return on investment costs.
